“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”
Philippians 2:5-8
I love Christmas. I love considering who Jesus is to me, and thinking about all of the things He did coming to this earth. I love giving and receiving gifts. I love not feeling the pressure of commercialized Christmas. (Partially because I don’t watch TV) This day, once a year, is so much fun.
The one who had it all, gave it all
As it says in the above verse, Jesus was in the form of God, but He left heaven in all its glory, and came to earth with no reputation. The one who made the heavens, and the stars, the sea, and everything in it. He took the lowest place you could possibly take. Lower than low. Poor, in a dirty animal stall. Not a king’s palace. He desired so greatly to have our whole heart and devotion. Hear Jesus’s heart; ““Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” John 17:24
He wasn’t just satisfied with being God. He desired to have us as a part of His inheritance, and He, our inheritance. We, the people created in the image of God, were broken, poor, sick, and blind. This Jesus, who was richer and more incredible than anyone, left it all. He took no shortcuts, but came through the womb of a woman, just like all of us. “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” 2 Corinthians 8:9
So, as you grow in your walk with God, think about who Jesus is, and His life toward you and in you. Ask the Holy Spirit to shape you in the image of Christ. He desires you to be with Him, and you will desire Him. This isn’t a fuzzy, make you feel good type message. No, this is life and death. He is the only way to find yourself, He is the only way to be forgiven, He is the only way to the Father, and He is the only one worthy of our life completely devoted to Him.
Although, fuzzy is good too, it’s just the seasoning, not the steak. Haha
Merry Christmas!
