“The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?” Matthew‬ ‭10:24-25‬

I want to talk about what the power of God will do in your life if you live in the western world. You see, for too long we have lived with an intellectual assent to God and to His power. Why am I on the power of God so much? Because it is the only thing that will change this world. We’re grabbing that which is beyond ourselves. He is greater than us, but wishes to touch the world through us. God’s power is the only way to bring revival, and it’s the only way to have any lasting change.

Born again to believe Him for anything

“It is abnormal for a Christian not to have an appetite for the impossible. It has been written into our spiritual DNA to hunger for the impossibilities around us to bow at the name of Jesus.”-Bill Johnson

So you’ve been given the Holy Spirit of God. The same Spirit that rose Jesus from the dead, and you believe that too. Isn’t it funny how we believe that, but not that God would heal today? What? Did He run out of juice? You see, you have to be taught racism. Kids of different races get along naturally. You have to be taught cessationism. God’s kids believe quite naturally that their Father can heal, deliver, save, and raise the dead. I am convinced that the power of God is not only the only way to effectively evangelize, but also it is the key to understanding the scriptures. Jesus Himself said to the sadducees; (the cessationists of His day, I might add.)“Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.” Matthew‬ ‭22:29‬

Two things to note here, Jesus knew the scriptures and the power of God. From time to time you will find Jesus “misquoting” the scriptures. Or would it be a better understanding to say that the Holy Spirit revealed to Him the real meaning of the scripture? And who knew the power of God better than the Son of God? These two things go hand in hand. The simple answer is this: we need the Holy Spirit. I am so thrilled that the Father lets us do this. I know that this power is His, so I don’t get any credit for it, but man I love that He involves me. Since the Lord started to break out healing in my life and by my hands, I’ve had the privilege to see Him do some amazing things. Opening deaf ears, healing food allergies, healing kidney stones and other kidney diseases, healing broken bones, mental issues, digestive diseases and other things. There’s so much more I have yet to see. I am thrilled to believe God for the impossible. I want to see crazy things happen in the name of Jesus. Why? It is the thing that will win the world to Christ. I want people to be saved. All of the things that have gone wrong, all of the sin, all of the pain… my God has the answer. Jesus can heal anything, deliver and save anyone.

“It’s witchcraft”

I’ve been called psychic, a cult leader, and someone who practices witchcraft. I have some other friends who have experienced the same thing. My good friend at work was healed of raspberry allergies, and she prayed for her friend who’s eyes were healed. She doesn’t wear glasses anymore. They live with a very nice, but misunderstanding woman. This woman accused the girls of practicing witchcraft.

This created a lot of strife between the three of them. But you ask yourself, why do good Christian people think that this is witchcraft? The problem is that the Church in the western world has been so powerless for so many years. All spiritual things are “religisized” or swept under the rug, or dismissed. Intellectualism rose to great prominence in the West, and spirituality became church attendance.

The only time you would hear about any kind of spiritual power was when you heard of the occult. So when Christians finally move in the power of God, people immediately have the red flags go up. They are quick to say “Magic! Psychics! Witchcraft! Voodoo! Spells!” Which are all real. The devil does move in a form of distorted power. You must come to terms with this idea in order to be effective. However, the devil is not more powerful than God.

Simon the sorcerer in Acts 8 was called “the great one”. But this “great one” bowed to the name of Jesus and was baptized by Phillip the evangelist. What caused such a change?

“Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.” ‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:13‬

It was the power of God which took this man from the occult and into Christ. It is the power of God which will reach this generation of new-age seekers and spiritual hunters. It is only Jesus and His name which will heal the broken hearted, release the addicted, and rescue the sinner into the grace of God.

Fear not

Don’t be afraid to look like a fool for Jesus. They thought He was demon possessed. People may say that about you. I’ve been called all sorts of names, but the only name I care about is the one that my Heavenly Father has called me.

Beloved son of the most High. And you are that too. Power is important, but let it flow out of your identity in Him.
