“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:2
One of the biggest lies that the devil has made the world believe is that he doesn’t exist, but the biggest lie that he has made the church believe is that they are still sinners. Once you let this revelation hit your soul, you will be able to love God with a clean conscience and a pure heart. “Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8
Not created for sin
In the beginning, God created men and women in His own image. (See Genesis 1:26-27) Well, God’s image is not sin. I think that’s pretty obvious. God is love, and we were created to be love and be loved by God, and reciprocate it back to Him. He gave us dominion over the Earth, but we handed the keys over to Satan when we ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Ever since then, every single man and woman has been born into sin. We were born into the law of sin and death. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” Galatians 6:7
““Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die.” Ezekiel 18:4
You can point to every sickness, every torment, every disease being caused by the law of sin and death. God did not bring this on us, we brought it on ourselves when we obeyed the enemy. Although this law is in effect in most people, it is not God’s perfect will. He desires all to come to repentance. He made the way for redemption through His son. Jesus is God in the flesh. He set aside His divinity to not only show us how to live like God again, but to also make a way for us to be forgiven and set free.
It’s all about Jesus
If you’ve spent any length of time in the church, you probably know it’s all about Jesus. Well, let’s look at him through fresh eyes. I want you to see how you were never made for sin, and ultimately, Jesus set you free from sin and its power over you.
“And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”” Matthew 1:21
Look closely at the words. Every word in scripture is intentional. It says “He will save His people from their sins” Not in, but from their sins. We in the church often look at what Jesus did as the big cover-up. His grace covers our sins, and we are still sinners, but God sees us through the blood of Jesus. What? NO! The blood of Jesus is not that weak. It cleanses us from sin and it’s stain, it’s past mistakes, its power over us. God gives us a new nature! (See 2 Corinthians 5:17) what was John the baptist’s first declaration when he saw Jesus? “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29
He takes away the sin of the world! You see, we’ve made it all about going to heaven one day, and God made it all about transformation. God made it all about forgiveness and a new life. He desires heaven on earth. “Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10
God desires heaven on earth, and there will be a fullness one day, but we are to use that model to win the lost and heal the sick. Unfortunately there are people who are still lost in their minds. They sit in church every Sunday, and a lot of pastors teach that they are sinners. Then we wonder why there is so much sin in the church. This is not what we were created for. We are to look like Jesus in everything we do. Jesus never tried to sin and get away with it.
“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17
At rest in His love
There is more to say, and I’ll continue this in more parts. What I do want to get across is that this is all done in relationship with God. You can’t muster the strength to walk in freedom from sin. You will live a Romans 7 life if you do that. Let the Lord of the universe love you. “But Lee, God does love me.” Yes, that’s true, but not everyone is actively receiving His love. Be still, let Him love you, He wants to so bad.
To be continued…
